My name is Valerie Miller and I am a textile artist and fashion designer. These two pieces are from a series where I recreated a series of embroidered organs I did a few years ago. I first created the organ series as an exploration of embroidery as a medium and how it could beautify typically ugly things. Typically I am a textile artist (thus the embroidery) but I wanted to see how my organ series would translate to alcohol markers and then to a drawing on adobe illustrator. Being hyper mobile I lack the dexterity needed for painting and drawing so I rely on alcohol markers to turn my unstable fingers into an intentionally messy and loose aesthetic, as well as tediously creating geometric shapes to draw on illustrator as it doesn’t require stable hands.
